Central Coast Mariners head coach Lawrie McKinna has described his side's 2-1 win over Perth Glory in the opening game of the Pre-Season Cup at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday night as "encouraging for the rest of the season".
The Mariners, defending champions of the Pre-Season Cup and finalists in the Hyundai A-League, started where they left off last season, leaping out to a 2-0 lead after just eight minutes of play courtesy of clinical finishes from strikers Stewart Petrie and Adam Kwasn
